Mon, 6 July 2009 For many of us our relationships and our lives are built around varying degrees of fending off attacks and setting up defences. What we fail to realize is that all attack is defence and all defence is impossible. In this episode we explore the idea of defenslessness as the strongest position both in life and as an actor.

Last year I was in the improv team at my school and I was one of the funny guys. I didn't really focus too much on helping my team mates.
I haven't done improv with my team for about 3 months since school ended and today we started Improv workshops for the new year. I was practicing with kids who have never done improv before and i knew i had to give them "gifts" to help the scene move forward it stressed me out knowing that i can't look bad in front of these new kids when i was so funny last year and i had to watch over them and help move the scene. I did horrible. I felt out of it in every scene that i did. When i'm in the neutral line looking for a way to enter the scene, i can't think of anything to do or say so i come in doing a really simple character or creating a simple problem/ solution. Last year i didn't really have this problem. What can i do to improve myself and also be a good leader at the same time?

I direct a Zen Improv troupe in Northern California and I found the ideas in this podcast to be insightful and refreshing.
